Change Currency Symbol to Currency Code (e.g. $ to USD)
Show clear trip prices like USD instead of $ so international travelers know exactly which currency they will pay before booking.
Symbol vs. code display
WP Travel Engine can show prices as a currency symbol or a currency code. A currency symbol is a sign like $ or £. A currency code is the short name of the currency, such as USD, EUR, or GBP.
This helps when travelers from different countries visit your site. For example, a traveler from Canada might see $100 on a trek or day tour and not know if that means Canadian dollars or US dollars. If you show 100 USD instead, the price is much clearer.
Showing the currency code can help travelers feel more confident before they book. It is especially helpful if you sell multi-day packages or day tours to international guests who may not recognize which dollar or pound you mean.
Switch the display format
You'll need WP Travel Engine installed and activated on your WordPress site before you start.
You only need to change one setting. Once you save it, your trip prices will show the currency code across your site.
Open Currency settings
First, open the place where WP Travel Engine keeps your money and pricing settings.
In your WordPress dashboard, look at the left sidebar menu. Go to WP Travel Engine > Settings > Currency > General. This opens the main currency settings page for your travel website.
If you are in the right place, you will see options related to how prices appear on your trips. You are ready for the next step.
Find Amount Display Format
Next, find the setting that controls how the price is written on the screen.
Look for the field called Amount Display Format on the General tab. This field decides how WP Travel Engine shows the amount, including whether it uses a symbol like $ or a code like USD.
Once you find that field, you are in the right spot to make the change.
Replace the placeholder
This is the part that changes what your travelers see.
In the Amount Display Format field, remove %CURRENCY_SYMBOL% and replace it with %CURRENCY_CODE%. These are placeholders, which means they are special words the plugin replaces automatically with your actual currency details.
After this change, the plugin will stop showing the symbol and start showing the code instead. That means a price can appear as 100 USD instead of $100.
Save your settings
Saving the setting applies the change across your trip pages.
Click the save button on the settings page. It is usually near the bottom of the screen. After you save, prices in places like the pricing section, cart, and checkout will show the currency code instead of the symbol.
If you visit one of your trip pages after saving, you should see the new format there as well. That is all you need to do.
You can also show both the symbol and the code together if you want. For example, %CURRENCY_SYMBOL%%AMOUNT% %CURRENCY_CODE% would display a price like $100 USD. This can be a good option if you want the price to feel familiar at a glance and still stay clear for international travelers.
