How to Configure Trip Info Settings in WP Travel Engine
Set up the quick-facts fields on your trip pages - destinations, duration, activities, accommodation, and more - so travelers see key details before booking.
Trip Info is the set of quick facts that appears on each of your trip pages. It gives travelers an at-a-glance summary of important details like destinations, schedules, accommodations, and activities.
Think of it as the part of the trip page that answers the first questions people usually have. If you run an Annapurna trek, a traveler may want to know the route, how many days the trip takes, where they stay, what activities are included, and whether permits are needed before they book.
What you'll set up here
Predefined fields are the Trip Info fields that come with the plugin. A plugin is an add-on that gives your WordPress website extra features. You can rename these fields, choose a different icon, and turn them on or off. You cannot delete them, and that is by design so they stay available whenever you need them.
Custom fields are the ones you create yourself. You can use them for details that matter to your trips, such as Max Altitude for multi-day treks or Permits Needed for restricted areas. You can rename, reorder, turn off, or delete custom fields at any time.
These settings apply to all trip pages at once. To add the actual Trip Info values on a specific trip, see How to Add Trip Info.
Finding the Trip Info settings
This is where you control the Trip Info fields that will be available across your site. Once you find this area, you can adjust the built-in fields or add your own.
Before you start: make sure WP Travel Engine is installed and active on your site. A plugin is an add-on that extends what your website can do.
Open the WP Travel Engine settings
A WordPress dashboard is the main admin area where you manage your website. You reach it by signing in to your site, usually at /wp-admin.
On the left sidebar of your WordPress dashboard, find WP Travel Engine and click Settings.
Go to the General tab
At the top of the settings page, click General.
Find the Trip Info section
Scroll down to the Trip Settings area. Then look for Trip Info.
Now that you're here, let's look at how to add your own custom field.
Adding a custom Trip Info field
Custom fields help you show the details that matter most for your trips. For example, if you run multi-day treks, you might want to add a Max Altitude field so travelers can check the highest point before they book.
Add the new field
Click Add Info. A new blank row will appear.
Name it
Type the name of the field, such as Max Altitude or Permits Needed. This name is the label travelers will see on the trip page.
Pick an icon
Choose an Icon from the dropdown list. An icon is the small picture shown next to the field name.
Pick something that matches the field. For example, a mountain-style icon works well for altitude, while a document-style icon fits permit information.
Choose an input type
Select the input type you want to use. Input type means the format you will use later when entering the value for each trip.
Most of the time, a text-based option works well. If you want to add something like Airport pickup included: Yes, choose the type that best fits that kind of answer.
Turn it on or off
Use the toggle switch to enable or disable the field. A toggle switch is the small slider that flips between on and off.
Turn it on if you want the field available on your trip pages. Turn it off if you want to hide it for now.
Reorder if needed
Drag the field up or down to change its position. The order here controls the order travelers see on the trip page.
Save your changes
Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.
To remove a custom field, click its Delete icon. This only works for custom fields. Predefined fields cannot be deleted, but you can turn them off.
