Usage & Logs

See exactly what Altus AI wrote for you, how much each piece cost, and keep your generation history organized.

What this page shows you

Every time Altus AI writes something for you, it keeps a record here. This page is your record book for AI-generated content. You can see what was written, which AI did the work, how much it cost, and whether it succeeded or failed.

Tokens are how the AI measures how much text it reads and writes. Think of them as the words the AI counts to figure out your bill. A short overview uses fewer tokens. A full 10-day itinerary uses more.

This page helps you stay on top of your AI spending and keep your history organized.

Where to find it

You will need Altus AI installed and active, the Content Generation module turned on, and at least one AI provider connected before anything shows up here.

Open your WordPress dashboard

This is the admin area of your website where you manage everything. You can usually reach it by adding /wp-admin to the end of your website address.

Go to the Usage & Logs page

In the left sidebar of your dashboard, find Altus AI and click it. Then go to Account, then Usage & Logs.

The table lists every generation with these columns:

ColumnWhat it tells you
ModuleWhich Altus AI feature wrote this (such as Content Generation)
ProviderThe AI service that did the work (such as OpenRouter or OpenAI)
ModelThe specific version of the AI that handled it (such as OpenAI o4 Mini)
StatusWhether it worked or failed
TokensHow many tokens the request used. Tokens are how the AI counts words for billing.
DateWhen it happened
ActionsIcons to view full details or delete the entry

Take a moment to look through the table. When you are ready, you can filter, search, or look at individual entries in detail.

Filter and search your logs

If you have a lot of entries, you can narrow down what you see. Above the table, you will find three options.

  • All statuses - Filter to show only successful or only failed generations. Say you want to check if any of your recent content failed to generate. Pick the failed option and you will see only those entries.
  • All providers - Filter to a specific AI provider. If you switched from OpenAI to OpenRouter last month, use this to see what each one cost you separately.
  • Search - Type a word to find a specific entry. If you remember part of the trip name or a detail, search for it here.

These filters are especially helpful once you have a longer list of entries to look through.

Look at the details of a single generation

Sometimes you want to see more about one specific piece of content the AI wrote. The detail view shows you everything about that one generation.

Open the detail view

Find the entry you want to look at. Click the view icon (the eye-shaped icon) next to it in the Actions column.

Here is what you will see:

FieldWhat it shows
StatusWhether this generation succeeded or failed
ModuleWhich Altus AI feature generated it
SectionThe specific part of the trip page this was for (such as Overview, Itinerary, or FAQs)
Provider and ModelExactly which AI service and version handled it
DateThe exact date and time it happened
Token countsThree numbers: Prompt Tokens (the instructions sent to the AI), Completion Tokens (the text the AI wrote back), and Total Tokens (both combined)
CostThe exact cost of that one generation, based on your provider's pricing

Say you generated an itinerary for a 7-day trek and want to know exactly what it cost you. Open the detail view for that entry and look at the Cost field. That number is what your AI provider charged for that one piece of writing.

Delete a single log entry

You can remove log entries you no longer need. This keeps your history clean and easy to scroll through.

Delete the entry

Find the entry you want to remove. Click the delete icon (the trash-shaped icon) next to it in the Actions column.

If you have several entries to clean up, the next section shows you how to remove them all at once.

Delete several entries at once

If you have many entries to clean up, you can remove several at the same time instead of deleting them one by one.

Select the entries

Check the box next to each entry you want to remove.

Choose the bulk action

Open the Bulk actions dropdown above the table. Choose the delete option.

Apply the action

Click Apply.

Deleting a log entry only removes the record from this page. It does not undo or remove any content that was already generated and added to your trip. Your trip pages stay exactly as they are.

Understanding your costs

The AI provider you connected (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or OpenRouter) charges you based on how many tokens each generation uses. Altus does not add any extra charge on top of what your provider bills.

This page is where you track that spending. Say you wrote content for five trips last week and want to know the total cost. Open Usage & Logs and look at the Cost column. That gives you a clear picture of what AI content generation is costing your business.

If you run into any issues while using this page, the next section covers the most common ones.

Troubleshooting

The table is empty

This means Altus AI has not generated any content yet. Make sure the Content Generation module is turned on and an AI provider is connected. Then try generating content on a trip page. Come back to Usage & Logs after that and your entry should appear.

I deleted a log but the content is still on my trip page

That is how it works. Deleting a log only removes the record from this page. It does not remove the content from your trip. If you want to change the content itself, open the trip page and edit it there.

I see a Failed status

This means the AI could not complete that generation. The most common reason is that your AI provider connection stopped working. Go to Altus AI > AI Providers in the left sidebar of your dashboard and test the connection again. If that works, try generating the content again.

The cost shows $0.00

Some providers do not share cost details right away. The entry still generated successfully. Check your provider's own dashboard for the actual charge if you need to track it precisely.

I cannot find an older entry

The search box and filters are your best tools here. Try searching for a word from the trip name. You can also filter by provider or status to narrow things down. If the table has multiple pages, check those too.
