How to Display Trip Duration on the Single Trip Page
Choose whether your trip pages show the duration as "5 Days" or "5 Days 4 Nights" so travelers see the trip length the way you want to present it.
Trip duration on the single trip page
Your trip pages show how long each trip lasts. You get to pick whether it shows the number of days, or both days and nights. This setting controls how the duration appears on every trip page across your site.
Say you run a 5-day trek with 4 nights of camping. Showing 5 Days 4 Nights tells travelers exactly what to expect, including overnight stays. A day tour might look cleaner with 1 Day without a nights count.
Before you start, make sure WP Travel Engine is installed and activated on your WordPress site.
How to change the duration format
Here's where to find the setting and what each option means.
Open the Single Trip display settings
Your WordPress dashboard is the admin area you see after logging in. From there, look for WP Travel Engine on the left sidebar menu and click it.
Then click Settings at the top of the WP Travel Engine page. Click the Display tab. Click Single Trip in the sub-menu. Under the General section, you'll see the Trip Duration Format options.
Pick your duration format
You'll see two options:
- Days - Shows only the number of days. For example,
5 Days. - Days and Nights - Shows both the number of days and nights. For example,
5 Days 4 Nights.
Pick whichever one matches how you describe your trips to customers.
Save your changes
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the settings page.
Your trip pages will now show the duration in the format you picked. The change applies to all trips on your site at once.
Which option should you pick?
Think about how you'd describe a trip to someone booking over the phone. If you usually say "it's a 3-day trek," the Days option is a good match. If you tend to say "3 days, 2 nights" because the night count matters to your travelers, go with Days and Nights.
Overnight trips like multi-day treks benefit from showing nights. Day tours and single-day activities usually look better with the day count alone.
Days:
When choosing this option, only the number of days will be displayed on the trip listing/archive page
Days and Nights:
When choosing this option, both the number of days and nights will be displayed on the trip listing/archive page.
The duration numbers themselves come from the General Info section of each individual trip. This setting only controls how those numbers are displayed. To change the actual number of days or nights for a specific trip, edit that trip's General Info fields.
