How Can You Manage Your Subscription
See how your WP Travel Engine subscription works, and learn how to cancel, request a refund, renew early, or fix a failed payment.
How your subscription works
Every WP Travel Engine plan renews automatically once a year. This is set up on purpose, so your plugin and all its premium features keep running without you having to remember to pay each year.
Here's what to expect around renewal time:
- Renewal reminder email - About a month before your renewal date, you'll get an email from WP Travel Engine. It tells you the date your subscription will renew and how much it will cost. Think of it like a heads-up before your bank charges you.
- Automatic renewal - If you don't take any action after that reminder email, your subscription renews on its own using the same card you used when you first bought the plugin. You'll get a second email confirming the renewal went through.
Say you bought WP Travel Engine Pro in March. Every March, you'll get a reminder email in February, and then the renewal happens automatically. You don't need to do anything unless you want to cancel or change something.
Cancel your subscription
You can cancel your subscription yourself. There's no need to call or email anyone.
What you'll need before you start: the email address and password for your WP Travel Engine account.
Go to your account page
Open the WP Travel Engine Account Page. This is the same website where you bought the plugin. It's where you manage everything related to your purchase.
Type in the email and password you used when you bought the plugin. If you've forgotten your password, click the Lost Password link on the login page and follow the prompts to reset it. You'll get an email with a link to set a new one.
Open the Subscription tab
After logging in, you'll see your account dashboard. At the top of the page, click the Subscription tab. This is where all your active subscriptions are listed. For example, your yearly renewal for WP Travel Engine Pro or any add-on you signed up for will show up here.
Cancel
Find the subscription you want to end and click Cancel next to it. A confirmation message will appear letting you know the cancellation went through.
Canceling stops future automatic renewals. It doesn't take away your access right away. You'll still have all your premium features until your current subscription period ends. After that, you can manually renew at any time by making a payment from your account.
Getting a refund after a renewal
Yes, you can get a refund if your subscription renewed automatically and you didn't want it to. WP Travel Engine offers refunds for automatic renewals if you ask within 14 days of the renewal date. This is based on the Refund Policy.
A 10% fee is deducted from refunds on renewals. This covers administrative costs and transaction fees that WP Travel Engine can't get back. Refund requests made after the 14-day window are generally not eligible.
The best way to avoid an unwanted charge is to cancel before your renewal date. You'll get that reminder email about a month in advance, so you have time to act. If you're already within the 14-day window and want a refund, submit the Refund Request Form to start the process.
What happens when a subscription expires
If your subscription expires, because you canceled or because a renewal failed, here's what changes:
- You lose access to premium add-ons, features, updates, and support.
- Your website keeps running on the free version of WP Travel Engine. Premium functionality is no longer available.
- You can renew at any time to get everything back.
For example, if you were using the Group Discount add-on to offer 10% off for groups of 5 or more, that feature would stop working after expiration. Your trip pages would still be there, but the group discount pricing wouldn't apply anymore.
If a renewal fails or your subscription has expired
Sometimes a renewal doesn't go through. The most common reason is an expired or changed credit card. Here's what to do if that happens.
Check your email
If a payment fails, WP Travel Engine sends you an email to let you know. Look for that email first so you can see what went wrong.
Update your payment information
Log in to your account page and update your card details. This is the same place you go to cancel or manage your subscription.
Renew manually
Once your card details are updated, renew the subscription manually from your account. This reactivates your premium features right away.
If you don't renew on time, your premium features stay suspended until the subscription is successfully renewed. The sooner you update your card and renew, the sooner everything works again.
Renewing before your subscription expires
By default, the renewal option in your account only shows up after your subscription has already expired. You can't manually renew before the expiration date from the dashboard.
If you previously canceled your subscription, the reminder email sent about a month before expiration includes a renewal payment link. Clicking that link and completing the payment lets you renew before your subscription actually expires. This way you don't lose access to any premium features, even for a day.
