How to Add a Privacy Policy Page
Create and assign a privacy policy page in WordPress so the Privacy Policy link on your WP Travel Engine checkout page and enquiry form works correctly.
Introduction
The Privacy Policy link on your WP Travel Engine checkout page and enquiry form sends visitors to the page WordPress has set as your site's official Privacy Policy.
Until you create and assign that page, the link has nowhere to go. Follow these steps to create the page, publish it, and connect it to the link.
Before you start
You need WordPress admin access and WP Travel Engine installed and active.
Create a new Privacy Policy page
WordPress provides a starter page so you do not have to write the structure from a blank page.
Open your WordPress dashboard
Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard. This is the back office of your website where you manage your pages, bookings, and settings.
Open the Privacy settings
On the left side of your dashboard, find Settings. Click Privacy.
Create the page
Under Create a new Privacy Policy page, click Create.
WordPress generates a new page with its default privacy policy template. The template covers the basic information most websites need to disclose.
Think of it as a starter form that WordPress fills out for you. You can use it as a starting point instead of building the page from an empty screen.
Your new page is ready for you to review and update.
Edit and publish the Privacy Policy page
The default template is a starting point, not a finished policy. Update it so it matches the way your tour business collects and uses customer information.
Review the privacy policy sections
Open the new page and go through each section, including Who We Are, Comments, Media, and Cookies.
Replace the suggested text with details about your business. Add your actual website address and explain how you handle customer data.
For example, if you collect passport numbers for international treks, mention that in the relevant section. If you store traveler photos for marketing, describe that in the Media section.
Publish the page
After you finish editing, click Publish. Publishing makes the page available on your website.
The suggested text is a guideline, not legal advice. Check what your local privacy laws require before publishing.
Your privacy policy page is now published. Next, tell WordPress that this is the official page for your website.
Assign the Privacy Policy page
WordPress needs to know which page is your official Privacy Policy. This setting tells WordPress where to send visitors when they click the link on your checkout page or enquiry form.
Return to the Privacy settings
On the left side of your dashboard, click Settings. Then click Privacy.
Select your published page
Under Change your Privacy Policy page, open the dropdown. Select the page you created and published.
Use the selected page
Click Use This Page.
WordPress now knows which page to open for your Privacy Policy link. Check the link before you finish.
Check that the link works
Testing the link confirms that visitors can reach the page from the WP Travel Engine forms.
Open your checkout page or enquiry form
Visit your site's Checkout page or open an enquiry form.
Open the Privacy Policy link
Click the Privacy Policy link.
The link should open the page you assigned in a new tab. If it does not, return to Settings, then Privacy, and check that the correct page is selected.
